SUBURBAN AREA AND TOWNS-SATELLITES AS OBJECT OF HUMAN-GEOGRAPHICAL RESEARCHES

Abstract:
Concept of suburban area as object of human-geographical researches in native and foreign literature is defined, its functions and elements of spatial structure are determined. Distinctive features of suburbs, town-satellites and edge cities are revealed. Peculiarities of suburbanization processes in 1960-70-s are exposed. Criteria for classification of town-satellites are proposed.
