Abstract:
Deregulation, decentralization, privatization and liberalization are common phenomena of current neoliberal globalization. Some theoretical and methodological approaches addressing neoliberal post-modern urban development are outlined in the article. The arising of new public-private alliances and the dominance of economic interests over social concerns and nontransparent management regarding the implementation of large scale urban development projects result in socio-spatial fragmentation of the city space. The case study of Kyiv demonstrates various aspects of city planning and development in neoliberal globalized world.
