GLOBAL NATURE OF US CITIES: CORPORATE APPROACH

Nikolay SLUKA, Martin PILKA

Lomonosov Moscow State University

Abstract:

Our analysis justifies the initial hypothesis regarding corporate approach as crucial in identifying global cities. Moreover it acknowledges US leading metropolitan areas as nodal to transnational business. Few cities determine country’s foreign economic relationships in terms of corporate linkages. When taking into account all internal and external attributes of corporate activity New York emerges as a leading global city with several group of cities lagging behind.
